Christmas Food Appeal

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Lions members will
collect food for those in need. In co-ordination with the local
supermarket management, we hand out leaflets in the entrance
area of the supermarket asking shoppers to buy an extra food
item (like pasta, rice, tinned vegetables, sweets, savouries and
other not immediately perishable food) and then place it in the
trolleys provided after the check-out.
We forward the food to charities like St. Vincent de Paul which
will distribute it among needy people in Ireland, like homeless
persons and other persons living in poverty. It is a marvellous
experience! Lions donate just 1 or 2 hours and is richly
rewarded by seeing people from all levels of society making a
huge difference to people who are not in a position to shop,
giving freely to bring a bit of Christmas joy in the most basic
way: Food. Return
