A few quick facts first
- Lions has nothing to do with Rugby
- Lions is not a men only organisation
- It is not a religious organisation
What is a Lions Club?
A Lions club is a group of people, men and women, who have
come together to make a difference in their community. Since
1917 Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give
something back to their communities.
Are their many lions clubs around the world?
There are 1.3 million members in 46,000 clubs in 205
countries and geographical areas.
What about Ireland?
Ireland (North and south) has about 2,800 members in 115
clubs.
What is a Club branch?
A branch is a group of people who meet a different times than
the host club. Branch members are also members of the host club.
If I join what's in it for me?
You will get a great sense of satisfaction from making a
difference in someone’s life who is less fortunate than you. You
will have fun working with a group of like-minded people.
How much time will my membership take?
Some members give a few hours a month, some a few hours a
week and some even more. Clubs recognise that family and
business commitments take first priority. Some members will run
a project for a month and then take a secondary role for the
rest of the year.
How do I join?
Normally clubs grow by invitation. Existing members will ask
a friend or business colleague to come to a few meetings. If you
would like to join or find out more information please Click here.
How much does it cost to join?
Members pay €120 a year, and this money is lodged into an
administration account and is used to administer the
club so that ALL funds raised are used for services and
charities. Who are Lions?
