1955

Dublin was the first Lions Club started in Ireland on April 22.

It held its first Charter Night with 28 members on November 4, 1955 at Royal Hibernian Hotel, Dublin. The Club was co-sponsored by London Club and Capitol Hill Club, Washington. Its first president was Archie Preston and the Secretary was Jim Cawley.

1960

A party for 40 homeless of Dublin was organised by Eric Webb and Cecil Geelan. It is now held annually in Irish Life Centre each year for about 400 homeless. It is now known as "Eric's Party by Dublin Lion's Club".

1971

The former Garda Station was rented from Board of Works and continues to be used as a hostel for young offenders and to be administered by six Club members. The Lionsvilla Hostel in Chapelizod was closed in 2006.

1973

Dublin Leo Club was the first established in Ireland by the late Lion Donal Moylan. The clubs continue in Ireland and it is hoped to re-establish the Dublin club. Former members of Dublin Leo Club are current officers of Dublin Lions Club.

1980

To celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary it was decided to make take 1,500 old and lonely to Mosney on a week's holiday. This was, in subsequent years, undertaken as a District project and Dublin Club continues to participate. each year this project takes place in Trabolgan Holiday centre in June.

Lionsvilla and the Holiday project were the brainchild of one of the founder members, the late Cecil Vard.

2005

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary we initiated the Alcohol Awareness Program.
